I grew up in big cities, the kinds of places that you only know you’re in a different town if you see a sign on the street. For the last 15 years I’ve been living in a city that has four times the population of the entire nation of New Zealand.

I’m a city boy.

So I’m still amazed that five minutes away from me, in any direction, I can get my ass lost in the bush.

Cece and I have been “tramping” (which is different than being a tramp, unfortunately), and the variety of landscapes around our little town are simply breathtaking.

I’m sure I’ll become blase about it eventually, but for now I’m lovin’ it. I feel like putting on a pith helmet and looking for Dr. Livingstone.
